Knitting Resolutions and Knitting down the stash

So it is a bit after the new year. But I'm posting my knitting resolutions now anyway.

1. I am going to finish the lace shawl I started in 2007

2. Make a sweater I will actually finish.

3. Shop the stash before buying new yarn.

With the exception of sock club and the Wizard of Oz kits, I'm going to try to keep from buying yarn until Stitches Midwest.

I started my first stash busting project. I'm making the Drop Stitch Scarf with KnitPicks Memories in Morning Glory. I bought the yarn back in 2007, they have since discontinued the line. I didn't like it for socks, the three pairs I made back in 2007 all had holes within a month. But I do like it for other projects.

Speed Knitter Returns

I broke my personal sock knitting record. While on vacation I knit a pair of RPMS in five days. I used Socks that Rock Lightweight in Jingle Bell Rock. There are 6 repeats on the leg.

Holiday Knitting is Underway

I'm trying to avoid having a time crunch. Especially since this year I'll be out of town for the Holidays.

I've nearly finished my projects for my future niece, my sister's present is half done, I started the one for my mom yesterday, and I wound the yarn for my dad's present. I'm still debating what to do for my brother-in-law's gift. I may knit part and buy the other part. I haven't decided yet.

Ravelympics

I decided to participate in the Ravelympics this year. I am in the Sock Put and the Shawl Relay. I'm going to do the Froggin' sock pattern using the Dashing Dachs fingering weight in the Froggin' Colorway and the Diamonds and Pearls Shawl in Lady Godiva's Ocean colorway.

The shawl is going to be the challenge. At least it is a one skein worsted weight project.

Knitting on straights with charity yarn

I haven't knit on straight needles in about two years.

However today I was over at my parents house and realized I didn't have any knitting with me. When I moved out I took all my yarn and needles, except for my portion of the charity yarn given to the knitting group and straight needles.

I guess I am more addicted to knitting than I thought. I was over there watching tv and I couldn't focus on what I was watching without a project in my hands.

So I now have a rib stitch scarf for charity in progress.
